I'm Phil Johnson,
I spent forty-four years learning that everything I was leaning on besides God would eventually be taken away—and that what He gave me in its place was enough. Now I help other Christian leaders learn that lesson the easier way.
Sandy and I started ministry and marriage on the same day—October 16, 1982. Forty-four years later, we're still doing both. Along the way, we've planted, served, built, lost, rebuilt, raised a family, started two organizations, written, spoken, coached, and learned what it actually costs to keep leading when the noise gets loud and the resources get thin.
I've been a pastor, coach, speaker, author, and ordained minister. I've also been trained at Disney University, where I learned that operational excellence and people-development aren't opposites of spiritual leadership—they're part of how faithful leaders steward what God entrusts to them. I founded Coaching Some Inc. and Awesome Life Coaching, wrote Awakening! The Dreamer's Quest, and developed the frameworks I now use to help leaders recover clarity and take their next faithful step.

Q: Who is this actually for — pastors, or business leaders?
Both. Awesome Life Coaching serves Christian leaders carrying real responsibility, whether that's a congregation, a company, a nonprofit, or a growing family business. What unites my clients isn't their title — it's that they're outwardly successful but inwardly restless, and they want to lead from a healthier place. Q: How is this different from what my pastor or spiritual director already offers?
Pastors and spiritual directors do beautiful, essential work. What I bring is different in two ways. First, I'm trained as a coach, not just a minister — which means our work is structured around your real-life clarity, decisions, rhythms, and next steps, not only around theology or formation. Second, I've spent four decades both in ministry and business, so I understand what it costs to lead at the intersection of faith, family, payroll, and mission. My coaching is a premium investment, and I price it that way—because the work is deep, personal, and built for real transformation, not quick tips. I currently offer two main paths. The 90-Day Coaching Sprint focuses on 1-on-1 work at $1,500/month over a three-month commitment. The Awesome Life Founder's Group is a 12-month group coaching experience at $800/month, or $9,000 paid in full, and the first cohort is limited to 10 founding members. Which path is right depends on where you are and what you actually need, and that's exactly what the Clarity Call is for. It's a no-pressure conversation where we name what you're carrying and talk honestly about whether working together makes sense.
